Jupiter and Saturn: Saturday, October 14

Jupiter and Saturn: Saturday, October 14

On Saturday 14 October 2023 the Col Drusciè astronomical observatory will be open to the public from 8.30pm to 11pm for telescope observation of the two most beautiful planets in the Solar System: Jupiter and Saturn.

The Col Drusciè Astronomical Observatory has a modern 40cm diameter reflecting telescope, fully automated, which allows the public to directly observe celestial objects from a privileged position due to the clarity of the sky. From the Col Drusciè Observatory you also have a suggestive view "from above" of Cortina d'Ampezzo and its mountains.

During the visit, the two most beautiful planets in the Solar System will be shown through the telescope: Jupiter and Saturn. ATTENTION: no other objects will be shown. For a more in-depth visit and the observation of more objects (Moon, nebulae, galaxies, clusters, etc.) book one of the standard scheduled visits.

The observatory can be reached on foot in a 20-minute walk on a wide, uphill dirt road from the Piè Tofana car park (directions here). Follow the signs and light signals, a torch is recommended. Please note that the observatory is located at 1800 m above sea level and it might be cold.

Entrance fee €5 per person, free entry for children up to 6 years.

It is possible to access the observatory during opening hours, without reservation.
