The Cortina Astronomical Association, on behalf of all members, thanks the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo and Cortina Banca for the contributions assigned, 7300 € and 2000 € respectively, which will allow to proceed with the aluminization of the telescope's primary mirror.
The mirrors of telescopes, with the passage of time, lose part of their reflective capacity: the aluminization is an operation, carried out by the manufacturer of the instrument, which restores the original reflective layer of the mirror by depositing a thin layer of aluminum on the mirror.
We plan to start visits for the public to the Col Drusciè Astronomical Observatory next summer (Covid19 restrictions permitting), offering visitors the opportunity to look at the objects of the starry sky through the eyepiece of a modern telescope at its fullest potential.
